What does the username ikuitenshi mean? Why did you choose it?

When I was in anime fandom (lol 12 yo), my old username was rikkutenshi: rikku from the thief character in Final Fantasy X, and tenshi meaning angel in Japanese. After a while though, I wanted to change my username to something more unique so when I played Pokemon Yellow again, I saw the name Ikue scroll past… But I got to thinking the name ending with an ‘i’ looked cuter… and after smashing these parts together, ikuitenshi came about. >_<

How many followers do you have?

Not comfortable saying exactly how many sorry! But to give a basic idea, I have a lot of followers, but less than a majority of popular Shinee tumblrs.

What do you make your gifs with? How do you make them? How do you make the quality higher? etcetc.

I use Photoshop CS3 because I am so old school like that. T_T I updated! I’m using CS6 as of now. Please google an online tutorial on how to gif because that is how I learned! Also, I do use a video converter so that the file (.swf, .flv, .ts etc.) can be the right format (.mp4 in my case) for gifing.

To make a high quality gif, I first suggest getting a high quality video. Youtube videos, unless they have a higher resolution than 720p, usually don’t cut it. Also be careful, because some people upload 720p videos but they aren’t true HD, just expanded files from already grainy videos. :/ Secondly, don’t cut too many frames and/or make them too slow! A lot of people do both of these, in an attempt to make a larger balanced paced gif, and I find the end result is usually something incredibly choppy and awkward looking. When I cut frames, I try to leave the option at every 3rd frame if not less. NEVER above a 4, especially with the 1mb gif limit on tumblr now. Thirdly, try to reduce the noise/static and unnecessary colours in the gif. You can do this through the level and curve adjustment layers, or if available, Topaz.

Lastly, PLAY AROUND because even with what I have said above, I can recall exceptions to every case, including making smaller resolution videos into good gifs, cutting more frames for slow-mo cams etc. And, if you play around with adjustment layers and gif settings, you can find what will be best for making the type of high quality gif that is suited to your personal tastes. I found my niche in making soft looking gifs that aren’t too sharpened. lol. :3

What do you think about (insert Shinee member/pairing, other kpop idol, or situation analysis)?

Feel free to still drop a question about whatever you are thinking about but I am just putting this here for a bit of clarification. I DO NOT know any kpop idol personally, and therefore all my replies to these questions are personal opinion. Please do not take my answers as some kind of undying truth or ultimate authority. My opinion can change over time and people end up both agreeing or disagreeing with me. There is nothing wrong with that — but what I am trying to say is, don’t take my responses too seriously (because some people have… >_>).

+ An additional note that I almost NEVER answer these kinds of questions immediately. I usually think about them for a few days so please do not assume I am ignoring your question or something like that. >_<

Who is your favourite Shinee member? What about the rest? What order do you rank them in?

My bias in Shinee is Onew. He narrowly beats out Minho, which is why I think people may be confused about who my bias is? I tend to post them both a lot. Otherwise, with the rest of JongTaeKey, their ranking in my head is always switching around from period to period. Usually Taemin is in last place though… BUT I still love him way more than any other kpop idol but yeah, within Shinee he is usually last. ^^;

What do you think about editing fantaken pictures?

Please refer to here, here, and here. In short, I think editing is fine but once the photographer/fansite requests for their pictures to not be edited/cropped, people should respect their wishes and refrain from doing so. As well, it is preferable if people include the source(s) of their edit. Lastly, I hate it when people put watermarks on fantaken pictures, because although they may not have the intention of stealing, it sure as hell looks like stealing… Cropping the original watermark and then plastering on their own. :/

Can you tell (insert tumblr name) to stop editing/cutting logos/stealing gifs etc?

Although I answered that I do dislike seeing these things being done, I am NOT going to tell other tumblrs how to run themselves. It would essentially be a witch  hunt to message every single tumblr that goes against fansite rules — something that I would rather not be a part of. Plus, it’s a bit of a hassle so… Sorry!

Where can I find the video from post x?

If it is a recent official show, please look at Shinee’s DC GALL for the file first. I torrent and download swf files that are posted there. Secondly, if dcgall does not have the file, I likely torrented it from Korean torrent sites. To get to these sites, merely type in Hangul on Google and adjust the advanced search settings (recent date or for Korean sites only etc etc).

For fancams, please check to see if I have posted a source link. I likely have put the original fansite/youtube link in the source. If I have not included a link, that means the fansite is closed. As well, if you are having trouble navigating a fansite, again, look to dcgall as they post most cams there or alternatively major Korean video hosting sites such as Daum, Pandora, Egloos, GomTV, and Naver.

Otherwise, please note I am NOT a youtube search engine. I probably only get 20% of my videos from youtube so the likeliness I have a video link is low. That doesn’t mean the video is not on youtube, but frankly, I don’t see why I have to make the effort to search for a link to a video that I already have. If you want to find a youtube link, please search for it yourself. To help, I usually tag my posts with dates and the shinee members involved. Using these tags as search terms usually helps to locate the video (something proven to me on the rare occasion I do look for videos for those who have asked). In other words, if you want a youtube link, looking yourself works!

Lastly, sometimes the files I gif are actually files I downloaded years ago (ie: Onho W photoshoot)… Those may be impossible for me to track down as the original video is gone — apologies in advance. I will not upload them however because well… I don’t want to upload huge MB files. :(
